Curating a Legendary Collection of Wrestling Autographs
With so many new products way overpriced, I have been trying to build a collection of both Legendary and Future Legendary autographs. I have attempted to focus on on-card autographs when I can. None of these cards have been posted on this blog before.
Legends
Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat:
Ricky has been a champion where ever he went. Some of his championships include the NWA United States Heavyweight, NWA World Heavyweight, WCW World Television, NWA/WCW World Tag Team, and WWF Intercontinental Heavyweight Championships. He is also in the NWA, WWE, and Professional Wresting Hall of Fames. If you want to see some of Ricky's greatest matches, check out his battles against Ric Flair and Randy Savage.
I will always remember Edge for his WWE days, whether it was his Rate "R" Superstar singles run or his or his tag team battles with his partner Christian against the Hardy Boyz and later against the Dudley Boyz. Some of Edge's championships include WWE World Heavyweight, WWE Intercontinental, WWE Tag Team Champion, WCW United States, and AEW TNT Championships. He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2012.
Sting:
I never really watched WCW or TNA, so I missed the prime Sting years. But he is a wrestling legend, so this card is a must for any collection. Some of Sting's championships include the NWA World Heavyweight, WCW World Heavyweight, WCW World Tag Team, TNA World Heavyweight, TNA World Tag Team, and AEW World Tag Team Championships. Stings was inducted into the Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2018 and the WWE Hall of Fame in 2016.
Shawn "The Heartbreak Kid" Michaels:
When I think of Shawn, the 1st thing that comes to mind is "Sweet Chin Music", and then his antics with D-Generation X. He also won Pro Wrestling Illustrated Match of the Year 11 times between 1993 to 2010. Besides being recognized as on of the best wrestlers each year, he held numerous titles including AWA World Tag Team, WWF Intercontinental, WWF Tag Team and the WWF Championship. Shawn was inducted into the Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2019 and the WWE Hall of Fame (both individually in 2011 and as a member of D-Generation X in 2019).
Bret "The Hitman" Hart:
The 1st thing I think of with Bret Hart is the "Montreal Screwjob". Some of the championships Bret held include WWF Champion, WWF Intercontinental, WWF Taf Team, WCW World Heavyweight, and WCW World Tag Team. Bret is in the Professionsl Wrestling Hall of Fame and the WWE Hall of Fame (3-times; individually, as a member of the Hart Foundation, and as Immortal Moment - his match against Stone Cold in WrestleMania 13).
John Cena:
16x World Champion, do we need to say anything else. And he will be going after Ric Flairs 17x record at WrestleMania this weekend. Whether you changed "You Can't Wrestle" at him during a live show or not, when all is said and done, he will be remember as one of the greatest to ever wrestle. Plus, I do find him to be funny in some of his movies.
Now Some Future Legends
Roman Reigns:
Anyone who can carry the Bloodline story since 2020 and still have the fan calling him their Tribal Chief after 4 years is worthy of legendary status. And this is after he held numerous WWE championships. During Reigns’ career, he held the WWE Tag Team, United States, Intercontinental, Universal, and World Heavyweight Championships making him the 9th Grand Slam Champion. And he holds the record setting Universal Championship reign for 1,316 days. We can’t forget The Shield, him with Seth and Moxy.
Gunther:
While in WWE, Gunter has known nothing but championships. From the NXT United Kingdom (longest-reigning at 685 days), to the WWF Intercontinental (setting the WWE Intercontinental Championship record for longest-reigning at 666 days), to now the WWE World Heavyweight Championship (will he be going for the longest-reigning again?). You can't deny that he is a legend in the making. Check out his matches against Ilja Dragunov as they are some of the hardest hitting watches in WWE.
Samoa Joe:
Much of Joe's success came on the smaller stage at Ring of Honor (before AEW bought the name) and TNA Wrestling. In ROH, we has a Triple Crown Champion having won the Pure, World, and World Television Championships. And in TNA, he was a Grand Slam Champion having won the Television, World Heavyweight, World Tag Team, and X Division Championships. And he has one of the best moved in wrestling; the walk away! During his time in WWE, he found most of his success in NXT as he was a 3x NXT Champion. Joe is currently in AEW, where he held the TNT Championship, World Championship, and just won the World Trios Championships. He is currently in the ROH Hall of Fame, but I am sure there will be other Halls of Fame for him.
Bayley:
Bayley is a product of NXT and was the first WWE Women's Triple Crown Champion and first Woman's Grand Slam Champion. Her championships include both the Raw and SmackDown Women's Championships, WWE Tag Team, and NXT Championships. She is currently ranked in the top 10 greatest WWE Female Wrestlers.
Charlotte Flair:
Flair is another NXT success story. She is a 14x champion (Raw, Smackdown and Diva Championships). And also won the WWE Women's Tag Team, and NXT Women's Championships. I didn't watch wrestling much during this time, so I don't know too much about her, but 14x champion will put her on any legends list.
Who do you have on your listing of must have current or future legends?
