Topps Chrome Update Baseball - how are those hits doing a year later?


Every year, we open a bunch of Topps Chrome and Topps Chrome Update boxes and get excited about the rookies refractors and autographs we pull.  And then a year later, when the new year’s product come out, we push these cards aside and repeat the process.  So before the 2024 Topps Chrome comes out, let’s take a look back on a few of those Topps Chrome hits from 2023.

Nolan Gorman - while his on-base is down to .266 so far this year, he does have 16 home runs in 76 games and 106 strikeouts. He is the every day 2nd baseman with a .968 fielding %. While I don’t consider this to be the RC that would we sought after, the cards is #/75 and can be currently had for under $5.


Liover Peguero - after ending 2023 with 59 games in the majors, Liover finds himself in the minors for 2024.  He is currently at Triple-A. The card below is currently going for $0.99. 


Bo Naylor - so far in 2024 Bo has caught over 400 innings but is sporting a low .991 fielding.  He doesn’t hit for power with only 4 home runs in 56 games so far.  The card below is #/150 and can be had for around $15.


Jordan Walker - this was my big hit last year, the Orange autograph refractor #/25.  Last year, this card raw was selling in the $400 range.  Now a PSA 9 is about $200 and a PSA 8 is $100.  After playing 117 games in the majors during 2023 (11 home runs and .342 on-base %), Jordan struggled in 2024 (20 games, no home runs and .236 on-base %), and was sent down to Triple-A.  He is playing better in the minors, so hopefully he will find himself back in the majors soon. But he will have to beat out another player who is playing well.  If he is able to get back to starting in majors, I would expect his prices to increase. Playing for the Cardinals is also a hobby bonus as they are a highly collected team.


Oneil Cruz - we are going to go back to 2022 Topps Chrome Update here as Cruz missed the 2023 season after fracturing his ankle 9 games into the season.  He is now fully healed and reclaimed his starting shortstop position.  In 73 games this year, Cruz has 11 home runs and a .286 on-base %. The Chome Refractor autograph looks to still be about $80-100 raw.

2025 Topps Chrome NXT Autograph Blue Refractor Insert Set Build - Finished!!

With Topps acquiring the WWE license, I wanted to do put together one of the numbered sets.  Last year, I completed the Select White Prizm #/125 set (100 cards) and I am still working on the 2022 and 2024 sets.  But with the base set at 200 cards (too many cards) and the SP at 100 cards (cost way too much), I wasn’t going to try one of those.  So I decided to go for the NXT autograph set as NXT is one of my favorite shows. And with it being only 40 cards, to make it more challenging, I am going for the Blue Refractor #/150 set. Update:  I have made good progress during the first 3 months of Chromes release. I am at 32 cards. 7 more to go to completion. 2nd Update:  I have finished set. The only one I can’t find is the Damon Kemp auto. Curating a Legendary Collection of Wrestling Autographs

With so many new products way overpriced, I have been trying to build a collection of both Legendary and Future Legendary autographs. I have attempted to focus on on-card autographs when I can. None of these cards have been posted on this blog before. Legends Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat:   Ricky has been a champion where ever he went. Some of his championships include the NWA United States Heavyweight, NWA World Heavyweight, WCW World Television, NWA/WCW World Tag Team, and WWF Intercontinental Heavyweight Championships. New York Giants Autographed Banner Project

Updated: November 2025 Each year, the Giants send out a care package to their season ticket holders and this year’s package (2022) included the Giants banner that you see below. What I decided to do (and probably for the next few years) was to try and get the banner signed by as many players as possible (there is usually a few players that sign at each game).
